The proposal for the Montbenon esplanade consists of an in-situ sculpture project. Walter Bischoff’s architectural and landscaping design in the 1970s is characterized by its different levels in terraces or steps, often connected by stairs. The ubiquitous concrete is used to build these various landscaping elements. Designed in a modular way, it marks a rhythm of repetition with some variations, the right angles are sometimes interrupted by bias, more rarely rounded.

The proposed sculpture takes up these observations by appropriating the modular idea: four elements from the same formwork, a form containing two right angles but the absence of parallel sides refers to more possible communications. The modules are distinguished from each other by an insertion of a round shape presenting images as if frozen by a layer of cast resin. These are taken from my series “Roadside Bouquets”, a mixture of paint and scans of flowers picked on the public highway, thus dialoguing with the primary function of this esplanade. The sculpture is intended to be appropriated by passers-by, children, skaters.
